Pork Steak Recipe - Filipino Bistek Tagalog
Are you bored with the same dish you always cook? Surprise your family with this recipe. It has a unique twists compared to the regular pork steak. This pork steak is saucy and tasty, it's best with hot cup of rice. In Filipino it's also known as "Bistek Tagalog". Try it for your menu today. Just remember that the dried basil, thyme and laurel will give the sauce its aroma and flavor so please don't omit it. Or you can substitute it with your favorite dried or fresh herbs available from your kitchen.
Ingredients:
7 pcs Pork Chops
1 pack Garlic breading powder (Fry Brand)
2 cups Silver Swan Soy Sauce
2 cups water
1 Onion cut into Ring shapes
Pinch of dried Basil (optional)
Pinch if dried Thymes (optional)
Laurel leaves
2 tbsp Sugar
Pepper
2 calamansi
Procedure:
1. Roll the pork chop into the garlic breading
2. Deep fry breaded porkchop until golden brown
3. Once cook, drain it from oil
4. On another pan, put in pork and soy sauce, simmer for few seconds to absorb the flavor.
5. Pour in 2 cups of water together with dried basil, thymes, laurel, pepper and sugar. This will add flavor and aroma to the sauce.
6. Simmer for 5 minutes or until sauce is thick. The crumbs of breading and sugar will make it thick and saucy. So, stir it occasionally to make sure it wont stick or burn in the pan.
7. Once sauce is perfectly thick, put a pinch of salt and slightly mix it to taste. And put onion rings on top. Simmer for just few seconds to cook onions halfway. Then turn of heat.
8. Squeeze 2 calamansi on a strainer to add flavor.
